Simplifications in the procedure of temporary residence permit issuance in Ukraine
On 9 October 2020, the Resolution No. 933 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved new amendments to the Procedure of registration, issuance, exchange, cancellation, transfer, withdrawal, return to the state, invalidation, and liquidation of a temporary residence permit.
According to the Resolution, from now on, foreign citizens,
- who are not required to obtain a long-term visa for a temporary residence permit (namely citizens of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Moldova, and Uzbekistan) and
- who acquired specific grounds for obtaining a temporary residence permit during a temporary stay on the territory of Ukraine (employment, education, marriage, etc.),
have the possibility to submit documents for obtaining such a permit without leaving Ukraine.
Documents for issuance of a temporary residence permit without leaving Ukraine must be submitted no later than 15 working days before the end of the allowed period of stay.
The simplified procedure for issuing a temporary residence permit will not apply to citizens of a state recognized by the Verkhovna Rada as an aggressor state (currently, only the Russian Federation has such a status).
